Fast installation and high daily production output in a wide range of road construction projects
Benninghoven has been active in the Bulgarian market since 2005 and has its own sales and service network in the country with Wirtgen Bulgaria. A number of mixing plants are currently in use throughout Bulgaria, as well as a number of polymer and emulsion plants.
With the ECO 4000 from Benninghoven, the infrastructure company Groma Hold has added another asphalt mixing plant to its machine fleet, which also includes milling machines, cold recyclers and slip form pavers from Wirtgen as well as Vögele pavers, Hamm rollers and Kleemann crushing and screening machinery.
ECO 4000 impresses with performance figures and fast installation
The fast installation and high daily production output of 2,600 to 3,000 t asphalt of the first two ECO 4000 plants were key factors in the construction company deciding to purchase another, identical plant. Other criteria were the option for retrofitting optional modules later on and the comprehensive range of services available from the local Wirtgen Group subsidiary.
Asphalt needed for road construction projects throughout the country
The Benninghoven mixing plants are used in a number of different infrastructure projects in southern, north-western, north-eastern and central Bulgaria. Annual production and installation quantities of 1,140,000 t of asphalt (2021) document the demand for this material in the Southern European country. One example is the completion of the Struma motorway from Sofia to the Greek border or the Botevgrad – Vidin motorway section at the Romanian border. To integrate the national road network into the European transport system, various road construction projects are also receiving financial support from EU development programs.
To ensure that asphalt production in the Benninghoven mixing plants could start as soon as possible, prompt installation had already been a priority for the first two ECO 4000 plants at the Stara Zagora and Mezdra sites. Despite great logistical challenges, the plants were installed and commissioned within just 45 days.
Large projects are supported by EU development programs
Like most Bulgarian companies, Groma Hold covers the entire process chain: from raw material extraction and processing to asphalt production and installation through to resurfacing. The company is becoming increasingly involved in projects funded through EU development programs which are helping to integrate the country’s national road network into the European transport system.
