PBI releases a 100% warm-edge spacer

As a French supplier of aluminum profiles and assembled Georgian bars for insulating glass units, PBI is renowned for its high-quality decorative products. This human-sized company is located near Paris from its beginning in 1997. The original Georgian bars are custom-made to dress every type of glazing and windows.  Integrated into the double glazing, the shapes of the Georgian bars are designed to fit every form of support, from standard to the most complex shapes. PBI stands out from the crowd withits ability to provide a wide range of colors and particular finishes, even in small series.

In September 2022, PBI exhibited its know-how for the first time at the Glasstec trade fair and took the opportunity to introduce a 100% warmedge spacer, called „Future”. This Georgian bar, is extruded and composite material made. PBI carried out the finishing of the product, plaxed.

A pioneering product

Many window manufacturers underestimate the impact of metal spacer bars in insulating glass. Future is a composite spacer. This feature ensures that there are no thermal bridges in the glazing and provides a higher energy efficiency to the window. Moreover, the spacer is finished with a film. Unlike paint, film has many advantages: it does not absorb UV light and does not generate heat. Grainy films are free of defects, do not scratch and are often more mat effect than RAL colors, which is the current trend. Finally, almost all films are available. PBI is therefore able to supply 95% of all requested colors and special finishes, including two-color profiles.

A response to market demand

The passive house standard combines energy efficiency and environmental protection. This concept is at the origin of innovative projects in the building sector. Due to the continuous increase in energy costs, the insulating glass market has to adapt and offer ever more energy-efficient materials. Warm-edge spacers have a limited impact on the U-value of the window. Therefore, PBI’s warm-edge lattice has all the technical characteristics expected by the industry.
