Often, September is associated with new beginnings, playing host to the start of the school year, the reappearance of football season, the emergence of the harvest, Labor Day and more. For DSC, September marked the opportunity to share their experiences, enthusiasm and knowledge with others in their community and industry attending and speaking at conferences, receiving awards and inspiring tomorrow’s leaders (the youth).

We take a look back on where our leaders appeared to not only celebrate their dedication but give insight on where industry enthusiast can gain information and lend support in 2023.

Oil Sands Conference, Ft McMurray – Alberta

Great leaders embrace knowledge. At the very beginning of the month, DSC’s Damon Gonzales, VP of Product Development, attended the 2022 Oil Sands Conference held in Ft. McMurray Alberta.  DSC, known for its commitment to innovation embraced the pool of information shared as it strives to develop business in the Oil Sands market and learn more about the amazing work and technology that is being developed and used in the region.

According to Gonzales, „these relationship are invaluable to DSC and we are equally committed to helping our clients overcome challenges especially with our latest technology developments. We are looking forward to participating in the show next year”. NSSGA Legislative Policy Forum, Capitol Hill – Washington, D.C.

DSC believes it is important to be part of the solution by staying involved. That being said, along with over 300 attendees, William Wetta, SVP of Product Development and Chief Technology Officer and Charlie Johnson, Director of Domestic Dredge Sales attended NSSGA’s Legislative Policy Forum on Capitol Hill where they met to ensure the voices of the aggregate industry were heard by meeting with Capitol Hill lawmakers on policies important to the industry.

Apart from attending the Legislative Policy Forum meeting, DSC was the proud sponsor for NSSGA’s rooftop Max Donor event.  Did you know, ROCKPAC works to support candidates who understand and appreciate the value of aggregates operation and are committed to promoting sensible, scientifically-based safety and environmental laws and regulations. The aggregates industry’s voice is heard loud and clear in Washington, D.C., through the relationships that NSSGA members build with ROCKPAC.

IEEE- PCIC, Denver, CO

PCIC (Pretroleum and Chemical Industry Committee) has a long and storied history in the U.S., and the brand has been used to host a number of international conferences.  It’s success is built upon high quality papers, personal recognition and reward, valued standards activities, mentoring, tutorial and networking.

The annual IEEE-PCIC conference is an exchange of technical ideas – not a trade show – that brings together professionals with a common focus on electrical installations and safety. DSC Engineers Damon Gonzales and Eliott Castanza were honored to join hands with APEGA licensed Alberta Engineers, write and present a paper on Advanced Electric Mining Dredge Designs.  This is one example of DSC’s commitment to developing technology, growing relationships, and educating our employees. The Discover Global Markets is the U.S. Department of Commerce’s flagship business networking forum for U.S. exporters; this year it was held in Providence, R.I. and attended by DSC’s Director of International Dredge Sales, Charlie Sinunu.  This year the focus of the conference was The Blue Economy, showcasing clean technologies, sustainability and logistics to protect our oceans, inland waterways and Great Lakes.  Several of DSC’s partners were highlighted including Blue Wave Merchant Partners who were a sponsor of the event and Teledyne Marine who together with DSC and Trimble developed DSC VISION, the revolutionary technology for dredge operators to „see” underwater and increase dredge efficiency.  Twenty U.S. Commercial Diplomats and Specialists from U.S. Embassies around the world were in attendance and participated in one on one meetings with attendees.  Many agencies under the U.S. Department of Commerce such as the U.S. Exim Bank and Advocacy Center also were available for one on one meetings.
