The company of power technology solutions will deploy generators, lighting towers and battery storage systems to ensure a reliable power supply across all areas of the sporting event during the nine days of competition between Agadir and Zagora, in the heart of the Moroccan desert.

HIMOINSA, a leading company in the design, manufacture and marketing of energy technology solutions, has signed a sponsorship agreement with the organisers of the Rallye du Maroc, becoming the Official Power Supplier for one of the most renowned events on the international rally raid calendar. Under this agreement, HIMOINSA will provide comprehensive power supply for all areas of the event, installing dozens of generator sets, lighting towers and battery storage systems.

The Rallye du Maroc forms part of the World Rally-Raid Championship (W2RC), the world championship for this discipline organised under the umbrella of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA). Held in south-eastern Morocco, the event takes place over several days across some of the most inhospitable terrain on the planet: high-altitude dunes, volcanic rock, dry riverbeds and vast desert expanses that test the endurance of drivers, vehicles and, just as critically, all the logistical support systems that make the competition possible.

Energy challenge: HIMOINSA technology at the service of the competition

One of the most challenging aspects of major rally raid competitions is the lack of electrical infrastructure in the locations where they take place. The bivouacs — the mobile camps that serve as operational hubs for teams, organisers and the media — are set up each day in new locations in the middle of the desert, where there is no connection to the mains electricity supply. Under these conditions, mobile power generation systems are, without a doubt, the only source of electricity and lighting available.

Added to this are the extreme climatic conditions typical of the environment: daytime temperatures that can exceed 45 degrees Celsius, sudden drops in temperature at night, sandstorms and airborne dust, which subject the equipment to far greater demands than in any conventional application. The power supply must be guaranteed 24 hours a day, without interruption, to sustain essential services such as medical care, communications, safety lighting and the operation of mechanical equipment for sporting events.

To meet all these needs, HIMOINSA will deploy a fleet of units specially selected for their performance in extreme conditions.

HR generator sets, designed for high-demand applications in harsh environments, will provide the power required to meet the event’s high energy consumption. Dozens of units will be deployed over the nine days of the sporting event at the camps in Agadir and Zagora. Alongside these, state-of-the-art lighting towers featuring high-efficiency LED technology will be installed to ensure optimal lighting coverage with significantly reduced energy consumption. Their compact design and ease of deployment make them particularly suitable for highly mobile environments such as rally raid bivouacs, where installations must be set up and dismantled within a matter of hours.

The energy supply is committed to sustainability and reducing environmental impact, which is why HIMOINSA is integrating its battery solutions into the competition’s energy system; the EHR | Battery Power Generator units will enable energy to be managed and distributed efficiently, reducing the environmental impact of the operation.

Beyond its status as a sporting event in its own right, the Rallye du Maroc occupies a strategic position on the international calendar. Major teams, elite drivers and logistics operations use this Moroccan event as a final test before tackling the ultimate challenge in the sands of Saudi Arabia. This makes the Rallye du Maroc a showcase of maximum visibility and high standards for all technology suppliers,” explains Cristina Avilés, Global Marketing and Communication Head at HIMOINSA, who states that “the values of this competition are very much aligned with the company’s values and it is undoubtedly a unique opportunity to demonstrate, once again, the resilience, durability and efficiency of HIMOINSA’s energy solutions in one of the most demanding events on the global rally raid circuit”.

We are delighted to welcome HIMOINSA as a new sponsor of the Rallye du Maroc. Their expertise in energy solutions and their ability to operate in demanding environments are a perfect fit for the nature of the rally. The Rallye du Maroc is a unique event due to its sporting calibre, its logistical demands and its key role within the international calendar. Having HIMOINSA on board strengthens our energy infrastructure and helps ensure the smooth running of the event under optimal conditions for all teams and the organisation, whilst also incorporating more efficient and responsible solutions that support our commitment to reducing the rally’s environmental impact,” said Marc Coma, Director of the Rallye du Maroc.

The agreement with the Rallye du Maroc is not HIMOINSA’s first foray into the world of top-level rally raids. The company has previously served as the Official Power Supplier for the Dakar Rally, supporting the world’s most demanding event with its energy technology. This accumulated experience, together with the technical knowledge gained regarding the specific needs of this type of competition, consolidates HIMOINSA’s position as the leading energy supplier for major events in the world of rally raid.
