Novital’s J360TA enabled Outdoora’s artists to safely create an artwork covering more than 850 m² in the heart of Porta Nuova, while keeping traffic flowing throughout the project.
When an Urban Artwork takes shape on a façade almost 60 metres high, the result immediately captures attention. Less visible, but just as important, is the technology that makes it possible to transform a creative vision into reality.
This was the case with the large mural created by Outdoora at via Melchiorre Gioia 1, in the heart of Milan’s Porta Nuova district. To bring the artwork to life, covering more than 850 square metres, Novital used a Multitel Pagliero J360TA: a high-reach articulated truck-mounted platform combining outstanding performance, precise positioning and a compact operational footprint.
With a working height of 60 metres, a maximum outreach of 27 metres and a hydraulically extendable platform measuring from 2.50 to 3.60 metres, with a maximum capacity of 250 kg, the J360TA enabled the artists to work continuously and accurately across the entire surface of the building. Turret rotation made positioning operations easier, allowing the platform to follow the development of the design without the vehicle having to be continuously repositioned. Proportional electrohydraulic controls also ensured smooth, jerk-free movements, helping the artists execute the artwork with the necessary precision.
The ability to use the machine’s different stabilisation configurations was equally important. Despite the particularly challenging setting, on one of the city’s busiest roads, work could be carried out with an extremely limited ground footprint. This made it possible to keep traffic flowing normally and minimise disruption to the surrounding road network.
The project also required several high-reach truck-mounted platforms to be used simultaneously, all supplied by Novital together with specialised operators. This solution allowed Outdoora’s artists to focus entirely on creating the artwork, while relying on the operators’ experience and the precision of the machines throughout every stage of the project.
” The partnership between Novital and Multitel Pagliero dates back to the foundation of our company”, explains Marco Novindi, Director of Novital. “Over the years, we have built a relationship based on mutual trust, machine reliability and an after-sales service that is always ready to respond to our needs. Today, our fleet includes around forty Multitel Pagliero platforms, ranging from truck-mounted platforms that can be driven with a standard car licence to high-reach truck-mounted platforms for operated rental and tracked platforms. It is a choice we have made over the years because we know we can rely on high-performing, dependable machines that retain their operational value over time. This allows us to approach even complex and highly specialised projects, such as the one completed in the heart of Milan, with complete confidence.”
The mural is a clear example of how a high-reach truck-mounted platform can be used far beyond traditional construction sites and maintenance work. Today, these machines also play a key role in urban regeneration projects, artistic installations and specialised applications, where precision, safety and the ability to operate in confined spaces can make a real difference.
” We have worked with Novital for many years and are very familiar with the high level of professionalism they bring to every project,” comments Tiziano Marcassola, Sales Area Manager at Multitel Pagliero. “The greatest satisfaction comes from seeing this type of platform continue to be selected for projects of such complexity. It demonstrates the quality of the design, the strength of the construction and the value that Multitel machines maintain over time. Seeing a J360TA contribute to the creation of an artwork destined to become part of Milan’s urban landscape is a source of great pride. It also confirms that experience, reliability and performance remain decisive factors for professionals when choosing their equipment.”
Projects such as this one in Milan demonstrate that the value of an aerial platform cannot be measured solely by its technical specifications, but above all by its ability to meet the demands of complex worksites and unconventional applications. This philosophy has always guided Multitel Pagliero in the development of its machines and in building long-standing relationships of trust with rental professionals such as Novital.
