Minimalist glazed facades, made with Guardian Glass, for a new office building –  Aviatorilor 17

Guardian Glass Europe provided the glass for  a new office building glazed facades located in Aviatorilor area, a premium neighbourhood, with green spaces from Bucharest. The construction has a low height regime, with the main facades visible on Aviatorilor Boulevard and was designed by Bogart Construct architecture office in Cluj-Napoca, who has chosen Guardian Glass SunGuard® SN 70/35 in order to help meet all the requirements of the owners.

With a minimalist architectural design, Aviatorilor 17 office building is a project that intends to frame the new building in a historic urban area and encourages the viewer’s sensory experience, emphasising the linear shapes of the volume and the materials used to create the ventilated facade and glazed areas.

“In the design process, after choosing the natural stone plywood for the ventilated facade and the shade for the aluminium curtain wall, we performed several simulations. Even if the architectural programs make images as close as possible to reality, the glazed area had reflections that were not in line with the rest of the materials used. I didn’t want a glazed surface with high reflection to end up bothering the viewer and giving the building an artificial note. Guardian Glass managed to provide us with more physical samples of glass, and from here the process of choosing the final glass was much easier, reaching a concept that combines the natural appearance of materials with neutral shades of glass”, explained Ciprian Secară, the architect of the project.

Thanks to Guardian SunGuard® SN 70/35 architectural glass, with a double-silver advanced coating, high transparency and neutrality of the transmitted color, the project requirements were met. The glazed surfaces are covered with triple insulating glass units featuring Guardian Glass which help contribute to energy savings, safety and high sound insulation. The product has a neutral appearance, with a slight bluish color, being an ideal solution for buildings designed to enjoy plenty of natural light.

This buildings` facades are glazed with a triple insulating glass unit, where the external lite is covered with SunGuard® SN 70/35 glass, that helps reducing the need of artificial light and offers an excellent combination of solar protection and efficient thermal insulation. Also, it has a high solar protection of 32% and a high light transmission of 62% on the entire glazed assembly. The intermediate pane of glass is Guardian® ExtraClear, and, for the inside pane, the architects used ClimaGuard® Premium 2 coating for an addition of thermal insulation. The overall performance of this triple insulating glass unit was achieved, as required by the owners: energy efficiency, plenty of natural light inside, while blocking a large amount of the heat.
