  • In Milan’s ARENA MILANO, six cranes ensure efficient construction work under highly challenging conditions

A total of nine Liebherr tower cranes by dealer Niederstätter AG are being used at two major venues for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Italy, in Predazzo and Milan. In Predazzo, they are supporting the construction of the new ski jumping hills in the Alpine terrain, while in Milan they are proving their worth during the construction of the ARENA MILANO, where space is extremely limited. Liebherr is contributing to ensuring the timely completion of the sporting infrastructure required for this global event.

Milan/Predazzo (Italy), November 2025 – The Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics are fast approaching, and Liebherr is playing a central role. At two of the event’s most important venues, multiple Liebherr tower cranes are supporting to drive smooth construction progress. From the historic ski jumping site in Predazzo to the ARENA MILANO, Liebherr’s powerful crane technology is providing critical support for two flagship Olympic infrastructure projects.

Centro del Salto Predazzo: sporting tradition meets modern technology

In Val di Fiemme, in the heart of the Trentino Alps, the new “Centro del Salto” is taking shape. This venue will welcome the world’s elite in ski jumping and Nordic combined. Covering around 30,000 square metres, the project includes two main competition hills for international events, training facilities, and a wide range of amenities for athletes, officials, and media. The Liebherr top-slewing cranes 340 EC-B, 370 EC-B 12 Fibre and 550 EC-H are in operation here. With their high lifting capacities and precise control system, they are ideally suited to the demands of an Alpine site with complex logistical requirements.

ARENA MILANO: ice hockey competitions on the most modern foundations

The ARENA MILANO, one of the cornerstones of the 2026 Winter Olympics, is being built to host the ice hockey competitions. Several Liebherr tower cranes are in operation here, including the 340 EC-B, 370 EC-B 12 Fibre, 280 EC-H, two 205 EC-B models, and a 285 EC-B. The combination of different crane types ensures optimal coverage of the entire site, even under restricted inner-city conditions. With their compact design and outstanding performance, these cranes are the perfect solution for the complex construction of the multi-functional arena.

Shared Passion for Construction and Sporting Excellence

Manuel Niederstätter emphasised the pride they take in being part of such landmark projects: “As a dealer, we are proud to collaborate with companies that have both the vision and the capability to realise projects of this scale. We share with them not only a passion for construction, but also the responsibility to create spaces that go beyond their function. Places that tell stories and welcome people.”

The deployment of Liebherr tower cranes at both venues highlights the confidence that construction companies and project stakeholders place in Liebherr technology. The cranes are playing a crucial role in ensuring the timely completion of the competition facilities, so that athletes and fans alike can look forward to world-class conditions at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games. Daniela Niederstätter added: “Thanks to our decades of experience, cutting-edge technology and, above all, the service-oriented approach that has always distinguished us, we are able to guarantee maximum efficiency on major and demanding construction sites of this kind.”
