Holcim, investment of over 25 million euros to increase the production capacity of the cement plant in Campulung
Holcim Romania has made an investment of over 25 million euros to increase the production capacity of the cement plant in Campulung by approximately 20%. The investment comes 15 years after the implementation of another major project to renovate the plant, worth over 100 million euros.
„Holcim believes in the development capacity of the Romanian economy, that’s why large and constant investments are made both in the existing production capacities, as well as in new business opportunities. Following this new investment, we can say that the cement factory in Campulung is becoming the most modern cement plant in Romania, responding responsibly to the needs of our customers to build with high-performance construction materials. At the same time, we continue to provide attractive jobs and contribute to local development,” said Cornel Banu, Industrial Director of Holcim Romania and Moldova.
The purpose of the investment is to address the existing need for cement on the construction market in Romania, but also to strengthen Holcim’s efforts to have sustainable operations, streamlining the logistics process and reducing the volume of CO2 emissions from the long-distance transport of building materials constructions.
Development and performance in harmony with the local community
The cement plant from Campulung directly supports, through its employees, more than 200 families from the Campulung area, and indirectly another 200 families through local contractors and suppliers. At the same time, it is an important nucleus for the development of the local community in the Campulung area, through the social responsibility projects supported over time. And every investment in the plant located in Campulung is a source of pride and motivation for those from the localities around the plant.
Contribution to the local community development
The cement plant from Campulung is at the top of Holcim operations globally in terms of performance and technologies implemented in the Plants of Tomorrow project, which is dedicated to automation, digitalization and the development of sustainable operations.
In fact, since taking over the activity in Romania (1997) and until the end of 2022, Holcim has invested over 900 million euros into transforming operations into more sustainable and safer ones for employees.
