The modernized space hosts over 350 students daily and has a capacity of 165 seats
Starting this fall, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Politehnica University of Bucharest benefits from a completely renovated amphitheater. “Ion S. Gheorghiu,” one of the faculty’s main teaching spaces, has been modernized through a project supported by ELBI Electric & Lighting. The total investment amounted to 350,000 lei (approx. 70,000 EUR), to which electrical equipment worth approximately 3,000 EUR was added.
The renovation work was carried out during the summer break and included the complete replacement of the lighting system, the installation of new benches and windows, as well as the acquisition and installation of new furniture. The result is a learning space adapted to current educational needs, offering modern and comfortable conditions for both students and faculty.
The amphitheater has a capacity of 165 seats and is used daily by at least 350 students. It plays a key role in the faculty’s academic life, hosting lectures for both undergraduate and master’s programs.
“Next year, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering will celebrate 105 years of tradition and academic excellence. The involvement of ELBI Electric & Lighting in the rehabilitation of one of our amphitheaters comes at a very fitting time. It also clearly demonstrates how partnerships between educational institutions and companies in the field can successfully contribute to training new generations of engineers,” said Prof. Dr. Eng. Dumitran Laurențiu Marius, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Politehnica University of Bucharest.
This marks the first direct collaboration between ELBI Electric & Lighting and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Politehnica University of Bucharest. The company aims to continue building partnerships with academia by developing projects that promote technical education and innovation in the electrical field.
“We are glad to have supported the renovation of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering’s amphitheater at the Politehnica University of Bucharest, providing students with a modern environment that enhances the learning process and the development of skills for future generations of engineers,” said Cristinel Sandu, President of ELBI Group.
This project aligns with ELBI Electric & Lighting’s strategic direction to support the education of future specialists and invest in educational infrastructure. In parallel, the company continues to run other initiatives in education and sports through sponsorships and partnerships that promote youth development and community impact activities.
