The deeply renovated, state-of-the-art facility features mass timber architecture, advanced power regeneration, and an anticipated 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions to house up to 210 engineering and business talents.

Delta, a global leader in power management and smart green solutions, announced the official opening of its completely revitalized Research and Development (R&D) and business office facility at Gråterudveien 8 in Drammen, Norway. Having achieved the prestigious BREEAM-NOR Excellent certification, the comprehensive deep-renovation project transforms a historic 50-year-old power electronics facility into a cutting-edge, 7,460-square-meter sustainable innovation hub.

Designed to accommodate up to 210 employees, the facility serves as a vital development hub for Delta´s information and communications technology (ICT) power solutions, specifically advancing next-generation data center and telecom infrastructure.

It integrates Delta´s own energy-efficient technologies to conquer the unique demands of high-capacity power testing, achieving an anticipated greenhouse gas emission reduction of over 50% compared to reference buildings.

In tandem with this landmark inauguration, Delta announced a strategic change to its local legal entity name, transitioning from Delta Electronics Norway AS to Eltek Norway AS to significantly strengthen market opportunities. This renaming perfectly combines Eltek´s renowned local expertise with Delta´s vast global resources. By aligning these strengths, the company aims to deliver industry-leading technology to its customers, accelerate time-to-market, and reinforce a powerful „local for global” strategy from the Drammen hub.

»Guided by our corporate mission to provide innovative, clean, and energy-efficient solutions for a better tomorrow, this facility – our fourth green building in the EMEA region – demonstrates how legacy infrastructure can be transformed into a beacon of sustainability,» stated Dalip Sharma, President and General Manager of Delta Electronics EMEA. »While Delta is working globally toward our RE100 goal of operating entirely on renewable electricity by 2030, our EMEA operations proudly achieved this 100% renewable milestone in 2025. This new BREEAM Excellent-certified hub perfectly aligns with our ongoing strategy. It not only keeps our regional carbon footprint at an absolute minimum but also significantly accelerates our speed-to-market by streamlining the development of smart energy solutions for our customers.»

Peter Hofstetter, Managing Director of Eltek Norway AS, added, »For five decades, this site in Drammen has been a premier innovation hub for power supply technology. This ambitious deep renovation honors that rich heritage while physically representing our successful evolution into a fully integrated, highly cooperative hub within Delta’s worldwide network. Integrating advanced power regeneration directly into our testing infrastructure allows us to handle immense technical demands sustainably.

We have created an optimal, inspiring environment where our Nordic engineers leverage true global synergy, working hand-in-hand with Delta facilities worldwide to pioneer the next generation of power and electronics innovations.»

The Drammen site has long been the cradle of world-leading power supply technology, originally developed by Eltek before its integration into the Delta Group in 2015. Operating under Delta´s corporate strategy of owning and tailoring its facilities, the project required millimeter-precision 3D scanning to preserve the high-quality structural concrete core.

This foundational retention was combined with a brand-new upper floor and structural expansions made entirely of mass timber, showcasing a striking Nordic aesthetic that drastically minimized the project’s carbon footprint.

A Living Showcase for Smart Green Innovation

Combining traditional office spaces with massive, energy-demanding testing laboratories presents a unique „Lab Heat” challenge. To ensure maximum efficiency and an optimal work environment, the Drammen facility integrates advanced eco-technology and smart solutions:

• Advanced Power Regeneration: To offset the immense electricity required for tech testing, the laboratories are equipped with specialized engineering systems that capture excess energy generated by the testing rigs and actively recycle it back into the building´s power grid.
• Geothermal Thermal Storage: Seven geothermal energy wells, drilled to a depth of 290 meters each, deliver 65 kW of thermal power. This system acts as a massive thermal buffer, storing energy to handle seasonal variations and providing highly efficient heating in the winter and essential cooling for the labs in the summer.
• Renewable Solar Energy: A 170 kWp rooftop solar PV system, consisting of 290 high-efficiency panels, actively feeds renewable energy directly to the laboratories to further reduce grid reliance.
• Intelligent Energy Monitoring: Developed in-house, the facility is equipped with a comprehensive Energy Monitoring System (EMS). Utilizing an extensive network of meters throughout the building, the system provides granular, highly precise data on localized power usage, water consumption, and solar panel performance, empowering the team with actionable insights to continuously optimize building efficiency.
• EV Charging Infrastructure: Supporting green mobility, the site features a 50kW Delta DC fast charger alongside 30 AC charging stations, ensuring employees and visitors have reliable access to electric vehicle charging.

Fostering Talent and Well-being

In addition to its environmental milestones, the new Drammen office is heavily focused on employee well-being, driving its pursuit of the WELL Building Standard. The architectural redesign intentionally relocated the main entrance to the center of the complex, creating a social „gravity” hub for spontaneous collaboration. This vibrant space flows upward into a bright, airy fourth-floor cafeteria and an expansive roof terrace. Currently housing 158 office workspaces with the capacity to expand to 210, the intelligent, fully automated lighting and climate systems ensure optimal indoor air quality and comfort for Delta´s growing Nordic team. www.delta-emea.com
