The Moldovan Government is fully committed to supporting any investors and is ready to offer comprehensive assistance to those interested in contributing to Moldova’s growth. This was the message sent by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Dorin Recean, to Romanian, Moldovan and German companies whose representatives gathered in Chisinau, seeking to foster cooperation and business partnerships, on the occasion of a Business Delegation organised by the Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce (AHK Romania).
The delegation, which includes a Forum and a Regional AHK Members Meeting, aims to strengthen the economic relations between the three states, while analysing chances for development of the Republic of Moldova in the current geopolitical context.
“With our delegation trip and the numerous business events during the visit, we have once again built bridges in order to bring together the business communities from Romania, Germany and the Republic of Moldova. This creates valuable business relationships that ultimately lead to economic growth and prosperity. We invite Moldovan companies to become members of AHK Romania and thus become part of a strong trilateral business community,” said Sebastian Metz, General Manager of AHK Romania.
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, who attended the Regional Members Meeting of AHK Romania, said that the Republic of Moldova had a valuable resource – talented people who support the development and innovation in various fields such as viticulture, information technologies, digital entertainment, electronics, pharmaceuticals and energy. Nevertheless, he emphasized the need for long-term capital investment to further develop these industries.
At the same time, through dual vocational education programs inspired by the German model, future professionals are well prepared to contribute to the economic growth and to attract new investment.
„Our country has huge potential for development: we have talent, innovation and a favourable environment for long-term growth. We will do everything which is necessary for you to feel comfortable and invest here in Moldova,” said Recean.
One of the topics discussed was security, that will be enhanced through various projects. The CEO of Siemens, Petru Rușeț highlighted that Siemens Energy plans to be more engaged in the Technical University.
Another topic was the state aid, which will be allocated in the key areas such as construction materials, industrialization of agriculture and pharmaceuticals. Funding is already allocated, and the EU Compliance state aid scheme will be launched next year.
Petru Rușeț pointed out that supply chains are currently overheated, raising issues in capacity and quality. However, Moldova and Romania produce high-quality products, which represent an opportunity.
Preparing for the reconstruction of Ukraine is seen as a significant opportunity for both Moldova and Romania.
Alongside with the Regional Members Meeting, a Business Forum was organised, with the aim to “pioneer partnerships and exploring Moldova’s business ecosystem”. On this occasion, Sebastian Metz moderated a panel discussion, that brought together the representatives of the companies and government officials in the three countries.
The Moldovan Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization, Dumitru Alaiba, mentioned on this occasion the support the Moldovan government provided to the investors, such as the favourable tax system for SMEs, or the state aid in areas like textiles, automobiles, construction materials, etc., emphasising the advantage of Moldova’s entry into new markets, due to its status as a candidate country for the European Union: „Investing in Moldova today means investing in a future EU member state. It is not just an opportunity, but a strategic chance to benefit from the long-term advantages of a market undergoing accelerated transformation.”
The delegation included meetings with partners from Invest Moldova Agency, visits to the Chisinau City Hall and the Technical University of Moldova, to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry and to the Ministry of Energy, to some local companies, as well as networking events and B2B meetings between businessmen from Romania, Moldova and Germany.
The participating German and Romanian companies interested in the Moldovan market came from various sectors of activity: energy, metalworking and mechanical engineering, agricultural machinery, electrical engineering, facility management, freight transport and beverage production.
Romania and Germany are among the most important investors in the Republic of Moldova. According to the Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization in the Republic of Moldova, there are currently 1,600 enterprises with Romanian capital and 426 enterprises with German capital operating in the country.
