Metallux industrial joysticks and sensors can be found in numerous applications worldwide. The Swabian company has been developing and manufacturing in Leutenbach near Stuttgart for more than three decades.
Metallux AG develops and manufactures industrial joysticks. Its extensive portfolio covers all sizes, from thumb and finger joysticks to hand joysticks.
The company places great emphasis on the quality and reliability of its products.
All joysticks are ergonomically designed, highly precise, compact and robust. Other advantages include low weight, long service life, low power consumption and a good price/performance ratio. Most Metallux products are available in Hall and/or potentiometer technology.
Extensive standard range and customized solutions
Metallux not only offers an extensive standard range but is primarily specialized in developing customized products and OEM solutions tailored precisely to individual applications and their specific requirements. This includes comprehensive consulting, which is an integral part of the company’s philosophy. No matter the challenge – the specialists always find a way.
From sample quantities to large series
Metallux manufactures exclusively in Germany: from sample quantities to large series of several Thousand pieces. Modern, automated production processes are used. A clean room is just as much part of the equipment as high-quality inspection and test facilities.
Wide Range of Applications
Metallux joysticks are used in a variety of applications. They play a crucial role in remote controls as well as in the drive and function control of:
- Construction machinery
- Agricultural and forestry machinery
- Off-highway vehicles
- Municipal machines
- Material handling equipment
- Forklifts
- Aerial work platforms
- Cranes
- Ships and boats
- Medical technology and wheelchairs
A key advantage is the extensive application expertise of Metallux’s highly qualified employees, along with individual and personalized consulting.
Thumb joysticks MJ-T10 and MJ-T11 in hall technology
With a total length of approx. 25 mm, a diameter of approx. 18 mm and an installation depth of approx. 13 mm, the MJ-T10 is one of the world’s smallest 2-axis, redundant industrial joysticks in Hall technology. Due to their small size and installation dimensions, it and the slightly larger MJ-T11 can be perfectly integrated into applications that require precise control but offer little space. Examples:
- as a control element in hand joysticks
- as a control element in armrests
- in radio remote controls
- in wheelchairs
- in Off-Highway vehicles
Finger Joysticks with Potentiometer or Hall Technology
The 1-, 2-, or 3-axis finger joysticks are available with either Hall-effect or potentiometer technology. Thanks to a modular system, numerous configurations can be combined almost freely. These joysticks come with various mechanical features, such as 1 to 5 detent steps – locking or spring return, friction brake or spring return.
Additionally, they can be equipped with different grip shapes, lengths, and functions, such as a dead man switch. Finger joysticks are commonly used in remote controls for cranes and for controlling ships and boats.
Hand-Joystick MJ-H10
Modern agricultural machines, but also construction machines, municipal machines, excavators and cranes are true technological wonders today. This is already evident in the driver’s cabin, which in many vehicles resembles an aircraft cockpit and is equipped with monitors, complex control panels and joysticks. Metallux has developed the MJ-H10 hand joystick for these applications.
State-of-the-art technology, a robust construction and an ergonomic design make this multiaxial joystick the ideal control element for demanding functions.
The base unit is solidly built and made of aluminium and stainless materials.
The handle is symmetrical and therefore suitable for both right-and left-handers.
A major advantage is the very low installation depth: this means that this joystick can be easily installed even in the narrow housing of armrests or control panels.
The modern, low-wear Hall sensor technology ensures a long service life.
Alternatively, the joystick is also available with potentiometer elements, which offers enormous advantages, especially in remote control applications, due to the low power consumption
The hand-joystick is available in several different standard versions, which differ in the type, number and arrangement of the operating elements on the thumb plate.
Last but not least: the Metallux hand-joystick MJ-H10 makes an important contribution to sustainability and economy: the operating elements that are exposed to the greatest stress are available as spare parts and can be replaced on site. In this way, a defective joystick can be repaired on site in a short time – this saves time and money because downtimes can be avoided and machine availability significantly increased.
New Products at Bauma 2025
New Finger Joystick MJ-F16
For the first time at Bauma, Metallux presents the Finger Joystick MJ-F16.
This redundant Hall-effect joystick is available in multiple actuator shapes and sizes, with numerous mechanical options: detent steps, locking, or spring-return. It can also be equipped with LED lighting and haptic feedback via vibration.
The redundancy of this joystick is ensured not only electronically but also mechanically, thanks to two independent springs.
Its compact design allows multiple joysticks to be arranged in a small space, making it ideal for remote controls, armrests, and material handling, construction, agricultural, and forestry machinery.
New Hand Joystick MJ-H11
The MJ-H11 is a 1-, 2-, or 3-axis midsize joystick that combines the compactness of a finger joystick with the robustness of a hand joystick. Its shallow installation depth makes it easy to integrate. The modern, low-wear Hall sensor technology ensures a long lifespan.
Another key advantage: The base and grip are available separately. This allows the Metallux base to be mounted onto a custom grip, providing maximum flexibility for various applications.
