Bucharest, December 7th, 2018 – Green spaces in urban and sub-urban contexts need to be (re)organized as highly efficient green infrastructures in order to increase the resiliency of urban ecosystems and to provide quality of life. Integrating unique storm-water management strategies with an ecological approach that increases biodiversity and provides beauty, real estate developer Prime Kapital designed an interactive sustainable urban park within its large-scale residential project Avalon Estate, creating an enticing environment for people while enhancing ecological and recreational functions.
Maggie Kitshoff, Director Residential, Prime Kapital stated: “We voiced our commitment to deliver what we promise and design an integrated project having a single concept approach towards urban design and landscaping. A first step in this direction is the fact that we have now invested in and completed Phase 1 of the centralized park and lake shore area, by planting 150 trees. A good combination between fast, medium and slow growing species will provide a good canopy cover level, ensuring that Avalon Estate is already a green integrated community concept when its first inhabitants move into the first phase.”
The planting layout has been organized according to ecological, functional and aesthetical criteria. Trees are combined in groups of one or more species or aligned in rows, considering the dimensions each species reaches once mature. The selection of the species in Phase I has been focused on the use of mostly native trees species (or their selected varieties) with high ecological value (Quercus robur, Salix sp., Populus sp., Acer campestre, Tilia sp., Carpinus sp,); some exotic non-invasive species (Liquidambar styraciflua, Crataegus x lavallei);species providing high seasonal variation thanks to their blooming, autumnal effects or berries (Fraxinus oxycarpa “Raywood”, Prunus cerasifera “Pissardi”, Sorbus aucuparia, Corylus colurna) and lastly, non-allergenic or low pollen levels species.
Offering 733 high quality bespoke residential units within a unique gated-community concept, Avalon Estate in Northern Bucharest is the alternative project on the residential market. The development will span over 8.1 hectares of land with more than 2 hectares of centralized green spaces. The large-scale residential complex will feature high quality villas, townhouses and apartments. The first 39 units are available for pre-sale and scheduled to be delivered in 2020.
