  • The new R 9300 G8-E 250-tonne-class electric excavator is now commercially available
  • It is powered by an 850 kW electric drivetrain that is available in 6 kV and 6.6 kV configurations in accordance with IEC standards
  • This latest excavator combines Liebherr’s electric excavator experience with the proven R 9300 G8 platform

The R 9300 G8-E is the newest electric excavator in Liebherr’s portfolio and is now available for commercial deployment. It blends Liebherr’s decades of experience with electric excavators with the proven 250-tonne platform, the R 9300 G8. The R 9300 G8-E has an 850 kW electric drivetrain that is available in 6 KV and 6.6 kV configurations as per IEC standards.

Colmar (France), 2 November 2026 – Liebherr’s latest electric excavator, the R 9300 G8-E, is based on the proven R 9300 G8, and as such is designed to provide the same level of productivity as its diesel counterpart. Drawing on Liebherr’s extensive experience with electric excavators, the R 9300 G8-E offers the same hydraulic power and bucket capacity at 1.8 t/m3 as the diesel version. It is powered by an 850 kW electric drivetrain that has been designed to IEC standards and is available in 6 kV and 6.6 kV configurations. After successfully completing validation, the R 9300 G8-E is now commercially available in both backhoe and face shovel configuration.

Benefits of electric drive

The R 9300 G8-E’s electric drivetrain produces no direct exhaust emissions at the point of use and, depending on the mine’s electricity source, can reduce operational greenhouse gas emissions. With fewer drivetrain components than an internal combustion engine, the electric configuration can also reduce maintenance requirements and associated operating costs in certain applications and site conditions. Compared with its diesel counterpart, the electric drivetrain reduces vibration exposure in the cab, further enhancing operator comfort.

Built for smarter, more efficient operation

The R 9300 G8-E comes with Liebherr Power Efficiency – Hydraulic Control as standard, which adapts hydraulic power to suit the machine’s load profile, reducing overall engine load factor. Thanks to its Generation 8 electronic architecture, the R 9300 G8-E is compatible with a range of Liebherr’s IoMine technology products, including its range of excavator Assistance Systems, the semi-autonomous Bucket Filling Assistant, the Skyview vision system as well as the data visualisation tool, Data View. Customers also have the option of installing Liebherr’s autonomous cable reel solution onto the excavator to assist with cable management and support machine mobility on site.
