The 27-metre truck-mounted platform supports the installation of a light artwork in Amsterdam’s cultural heart.
A high-visibility project in the heart of Amsterdam has featured a Multitel MTE 270 EX truck-mounted platform, used for the installation of a videowall on the main façade of the Rijksmuseum, the most famous museum in the Netherlands and one of Europe’s most visited cultural landmarks.
Located in the Museumplein, the Rijksmuseum houses masterpieces by Rembrandt, Vermeer, and Van Gogh, and is recognised as both an architectural and artistic symbol of the city. Working in such a prestigious and historically sensitive setting required strong technical expertise and reliable equipment, capable of operating with precision and safety in a busy pedestrian area with limited manoeuvring space.
The platform was supplied by HWS Verhuur B.V., a Dutch company based in Noordwijk with nearly fifty years of experience in the rental of aerial platforms, telescopic handlers, and forklifts. HWS Verhuur’s strength lies in its service flexibility, customer care, and a modern, constantly renewed fleet that ensures top performance in any operating environment.
“We chose the Multitel MTE 270 as the ideal model for this job thanks to its wide working outreach, which provided full flexibility at the required height,” explains Matthew Mumford of HWS Verhuur B.V.
The collaboration between HWS Verhuur and Multitel Pagliero stems from a shared goal: to offer customers reliable, compact, and technologically advanced platforms, ideal for urban, industrial, and maintenance work at height.
The HWS fleet includes several Multitel models with working heights ranging from 16 to 27 metres, including the latest MTE 230, MJE 250, MTE 270, all ideal for façade work, lighting installations, window cleaning, maintenance, and tree pruning. The MT 204 HYBRID is also part of the fleet and is particularly appreciated for its hybrid technology and its ability to operate in enclosed or low-emission environments.
Efficiency and versatility
The MTE 270 EX is a telescopic truck-mounted aerial platform on a 3.5-ton truck, featuring:
- 27 m working height
- Outreach up to 17 m (100 kg) and 12.30 m (250 kg)
- 400° turret rotation and ±90° self-levelling basket
- Automatic stabilisation and stowing
- Rigid aluminium boom with internal hoses and cables
- MUSA system for maximised safe working area
- Remote telemetry for monitoring and diagnostics
Compact and easy to handle, the MTE 270 EX stands out for its smooth movements, stability even at full extension, and ability to operate in complex urban settings such as historic squares and pedestrian areas.
These features also make it ideal for rental without operator, allowing platform users to work independently, efficiently, and safely.
An installation with high visual impact
The videowall installed at the Rijksmuseum measures approximately 7 m x 7 m, positioned in the centre of the historic façade above the museum’s main entrance arch — making the project particularly impressive from both a technical and aesthetic point of view.
Designed as an art installation, it projects live images captured from various spots around the city — canals, markets, squares, and tourist attractions.
The MTE 270 EX enabled the installation to be completed quickly and safely, without disrupting the flow of visitors or compromising the museum’s architectural integrity.
