25 Years on Site. A Story that That Smells of Iron, Oil and Road

What is 25 years? A quarter of a century. A silver anniversary. Time that settles on you, like site dust on your boots at the end of the day.

For MB Crusher, it’s much more. It’s hands covered in grease. It’s insights born between one job and the next. It’s ideas that took shape exactly where they were needed: on site. That’s where the Azzolin brothers grew up. That’s where it all began.

“We needed a solution. We had to reuse materials, cut costs, and stop wasting time and money.”

From this need came a simple yet powerful idea: a bucket that collects and crushes. That’s how Meccanica Breganzese was born. That’s how MB Crusher came to life.

A story made of job sites. To tell them all would require an encyclopaedia—one of those that filled the bookshelves of 90s homes. We’ve chosen a few. We’d like to share them with you.

2001 – The beginning. When the idea still smelled of diesel

It all started in the minds of the Azzolin brothers. Raised among construction sites and excavators, they faced a problem: how to manage all the waste produced on site. Every job left behind tonnes of inert material to dispose of—and disposal was costly.

The idea came almost by subtraction: the excavator was already there. All that was needed was a bucket that could do more than dig—it had to crush as well. A crusher bucket.

And so Meccanica Breganzese srl was born, a name that reflects its roots in Breganze, in the province of Vicenza, where their father Carlo had been building the town’s first road connections since the 1950s.

2002 – The first BF90.3. The world doesn’t know it yet, but everything is about to change

It’s 2002. The first MB Crusher bucket takes shape—both in concept and in steel: the BF90.3, designed for the excavators the brothers used on site.

By the following year, the warehouse is filled with products ready to reach the first construction sites in the province. The range expands. And the first customer testimonials arrive—recognising in that bucket the solution to problems they had faced for years.

2005 – The first site photos. And Samoter changes everything (what a coincidence!)

It’s 2005. Digital has not yet taken over. From the province of Rimini come the first photos of a crusher bucket at work: analogue prints, site lighting, dust. Modest, perhaps. And yet, already history.

In Verona, at Samoter, companies encounter MB Crusher for the first time. A decisive meeting. The market knows only large crushing plants. MB introduces a compact, autonomous solution that can be fitted directly onto the machinery already on site.

2006 – First equipment shipped overseas. Destination: United Arab Emirates

Less than four years after the company’s founding, it crosses national borders. In 2006, a BF120.4 crusher bucket is loaded onto a ship and reaches a residential construction site in the United Arab Emirates.

It is the first MB Crusher bucket to operate outside Italy.

2007 – Geneva rewards an idea born on site

Good ideas—those that solve real problems—get recognised. In 2007, MB Crusher wins first prize at the Grand Prix of the International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva.

An international award for a solution born from the practical needs of those who deal daily with high costs and tight deadlines.

That same year, the first foreign branch opens: MB France Sarl is established.

2008 – 1,635 homes for the US Army

A year of consolidation. The company continues to grow, refine its technology and build trust. Construction sites remain the ultimate testing ground.

Born for the USA. A project that sounds almost unbelievable: building 1,635 homes for the United States Army. MB Crusher is there. Its crusher buckets manage demolition materials, crush on site, reduce truck journeys, and cut disposal costs.

2009 – India: the motorway connecting Hyderabad to Bangalore. And MB becomes a joint-stock company

In 2009, MB Crusher units are at work along one of the first motorways connecting Hyderabad to Bangalore, in India. A vast project in a country building at a rapid pace.

It is also the year the company transforms: from an srl to a joint-stock company. The organisation grows, production increases. The German branch, MB Deutschland GmbH, opens. The MB-S screening bucket range is also launched.

2010 – The World Cup stadium in South Africa and the Tokyo metro

MB Crusher enters major global events. Construction sites become international stages.

In Johannesburg, South Africa, MB crusher buckets are at work on the Soccer City Stadium site. Chosen by Liviero Civils, the MB units manage the inert material waste produced during construction.

In the same year, MB lands in Japan: the MB Japan株式会社 branch opens, and a crusher bucket operates on the Tokyo underground construction site. Two continents, two iconic projects. One single year.

2011 – India and America. Two branches, one idea that never stops

2011 marks expansion into two vast and very different markets. The Indian branch MB Crusher India Pvt. Ltd. opens, along with the American branch MB America, Inc.

Meanwhile, in Forlì, Italy, a company chooses an MB crusher bucket to work independently and secure new contracts. Cost savings become a competitive advantage.

2012 – China, new models, and Italian job sites telling their stories

In 2012, MB Shanghai opens. The MB-L range is also introduced—the first crusher buckets designed for loaders, skid steers, and backhoe loaders: more compact machines, the same cost-saving logic.

But 2012 also speaks through the voices of Italian customers. From Parma, Dallagiovanna Luigi srl shares: “Among the many advantages of the BF 70.2 is the ability to always rely on high-quality material, along with a significant reduction in disposal costs.”

And from Sasso di Neviano Arduini (Parma), Massimiliano Cavalli recounts purchasing his BF90.3 to crush river stones along the banks of the Parma stream—one of the most demanding jobs there is. The result? Fine stabilised material and aggregates from 40 to 70 mm.

2013 – The MB-R drum cutter is launched. And Morocco calls

2013 brings a new addition to the range: the MB-R drum cutter line is introduced. And a project arrives that says more than any brochure about the versatility of MB products.

In Morocco, a company selects 7 screening buckets and 2 crusher buckets for one of the largest infrastructure projects in the region: motorways, industrial buildings, and pipelines. In particular, 250 km of pipeline works, where road base material is recovered directly on site thanks to screening buckets.

2014 – The new headquarters in Fara Vicentino. And MB Crusher at the World Cup in Brazil

The company moves to its new headquarters in Fara Vicentino, just a few kilometres from its original offices. The connection to its roots remains strong.

45,000 square metres of space, research and design labs, production departments, sales and administrative offices. Over 250 people at work. Every piece of equipment is created here and shipped worldwide.

In the same year, MB units are at work in Brazil for the FIFA World Cup 2014, specifically at the Arena Pernambuco stadium.

2015 – Paradise can’t wait: Saint Kitts and Nevis

2015 takes MB Crusher to one of the most remote and fascinating places in the Caribbean: the islands of Saint Kitts and Nevis. Here, MB units work to protect the natural environment.

2016 – Brazil, the Caucasus, and Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh metro

In 2016, the Brazilian branch MB Crusher Do Brasil opens. It is also the year MB equipment operates across three distant yet equally demanding sites.

In Azerbaijan, a fleet of 13 screening buckets works on the South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP), transporting gas from Azerbaijan to Turkey.

2018 – Beaches, bridges, and Qatar preparing for the World Cup

2018 is a busy year.

In Valencia, Spain, a coastal maintenance company uses an MB-S14 screening bucket to clean 9 km of beaches, separating sand from vegetation and waste. The natural material is reused in a local park.

2021 – Mexico: a baseball stadium becomes embankments. And Spain restores the past

In Tabasco, Mexico, a BF80.3 crusher bucket demolishes a baseball stadium. Instead of being sent to landfill, the resulting material is crushed and reused as embankment fill. A closed loop, a real saving.

2024 – Mont Blanc at 3,300 metres, the Himalayan Kaza, and Ivanovic’s dry-stone wall

Perhaps the most striking story of 2024 is Mont Blanc. The French company PUGNAT TP must build the platform for the new Grands Montets cable car at 3,300 metres on the French side, with no road access. The BF90.3 is dismantled in the workshop, transported in stages by helicopter, and reassembled at altitude by MB Crusher technicians.

25 years. The meaning of it all

If you try to read this story in one breath, it leaves you short of it. A baseball stadium in Mexico, pipelines in Patagonia, gas pipelines in Azerbaijan, a railway in Cairo, a cable car on Mont Blanc, roads between Egyptian oases. A quarter of a century of construction sites in every corner of the world.

The thread is always the same: a simple idea, born in a workshop in Vicenza, that solved a real problem.
